Why Is December So Important in Nicaragua?

Because of our location, we have an elevated view over much of the city.  On Christmas Eve was a fireworks spectale such as I have never seen, starting early in the evening but really building up starting about 20 minutes before midnight and building to the point where the whole sky across Managua was lit up with Fireworks. The “dull roar” you hear in the background is not the wind on the camera, it is fireworks in the background… Watch the Video on YouTube

…December is one of those months, especially in Nicaragua where the fireworks powder burned in the Catholic celebrations to Mother Mary and Christmas, and the pagan festivity of the New Year often blended with the gun smoke of the struggle for national liberation.
